Hello, Barbara,
I'm sorry it's taken me a couple of days to reply...I've been out of town.
Now to respond to your questions...
I first talked to my principal and told her I had found a new counseling technique, based on the body's meridian system, that I found very effective.
I always like to make the connection to acupunture, because most people already have a working knowledge of that they can tap into. My principal, who is awesome, was very open and receptive. Basically, her response is that if it will help the children, go for it. For awhile I just used it with the students. As I saw how receptive the children were and how much it helped them, I gained the confidence to introduce it to entire classrooms in classroom guidance. Again, I make the connection to acupuncture to establish a bridge. I also tell the students and teachers it looks funny and silly to do so that will help relieve some of their self-consciousness. The teachers were great. When I asked them to participate in the tapping, they did, and they felt their own stress go down.
I guess my advice would be to go slow or at the pace you feel confident and comfortable with in introducing EFT. I think our own passion and confidence about the techniques is a big part of "selling" it to others. For myself, for example, even though I'm ordinarily one of the most conservative people you will ever meet, have no problem doing EFT in the hallways at school or in public restaurants, because I know it works and I don't care how silly it may look to someone else. I think that confidence comes from just practicing EFT in situations where you are very comfortable at first.
Hope this helps, Barbara!
Hugs and Blessings,
Syandra Ingram
