    potty training/soother use

Hi there!  Now that spring is approaching, I'm looking forward to starting  potty training with my son.  He will be three in July so the time is coming.  Has anyone tried to use EFT for potty training?  I am also looking for ways to help him release his need for his pacifier.  He has had tummy issues and we rely on his "soother" to do just that....soothe him in the night.  EFT has helped eliminate most of his nighttime troubles (yay), but he still really enjoys the comfort he gets from his pacifier.  Any thoughts?  Thanks....M

    Hello Mickey,

Please see the posts under tag word "potty training".  As for the pacifier issue, I would recommend that you not try to accomplish both giving up diapers and the soother at the same time.  I would go with the potty training first because it is time and the pacifier will offer him some comfort from any anxiety.  Tackle the pacifier after the potty training success.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice!  We're also transitioning him out of his crib and into a bed so there will be lots of changes for him in the next few months.  I had planned on only tackling one thing at a time so I'm glad you reinforced my thoughts on that.  I've checked out the potty training...funny I didn't find it earlier because I did look.  However, I will take all the advice I can get!  Thanks again!!.....M

Micky regarding the pacifier issue and when you're ready,  what worked best with our son was not giving it to him period. We took it away from him one day and just told him it was lost, he's only 2 though but after a couple days he was o.k. Sometimes cold turkey works best but you have to evaluate the circumstance because not all kids are the same some will react differently......good luck.....

    Hi Micky

I started using EFT today to help with potty training, my 3 year old and I had been struggling with it abit and I realised my anxieties were blocking us from taking the step to going all day without a nappy when we are out and about. Whilst at home we were OK (just the odd accident) but when it came to leaving the house I would worry far too much about accidents. We were at a point where we were going backwards and forwards, sometimes I would put her in training pants when I was really busy and didn't feel I had time and patience for it and then she would end up in them for another couple of weeks then I would try again without them and my poor daughter did not know wether she was coming or going!

    So today 'we' decided to try EFT, at first I tryed tapping on her points but she wasn't having any of that, I'm not experienced enough for surrogate tapping so I decided to tap on my anxieties about accidents and then I made up an affirmation for us to sing together. We sang in the tune of "Mary had a little lamb" the following affirmation;

Sienna is all grown up, all grown up, all grown up,

Sienna goes on the potty all day, she goes on the potty all day,

Sienna is all grown and wears grown up pants, all day long,

Sienna loves going on the potty, on the potty all day long,

We sang it over and over for about ten minutes and she picked it up easily and had fun with it. I know it's only day one but we actually went out for an hour and a half without a nappy or a change of clothes and we had no accidents!! Looks like it is working, will check in and let you know how things progress.

    X Katie

ooooo, that's good.  We will certainly give that a try.  We haven't even started any of the training yet.  Been waiting for some nice weather but mother nature dumped another 20 inches of snow on us the past two days and it's starting to fall again.  The joys of living in the Canadian prairies!  I will tap him and sing the song you shared.  That will be so good.  Yes, keep me up to date about how it's going...it'll be inspirational for us!!  Thanks!!.....M

    Potty training update

Well it's been a few weeks since I started using EFT for potty training my 3 year old and I am very pleased to tell you that my daughter can go all day at playschool without a nappy and without any accidents!! We haven't tried her at night yet, one step at a time!

We sang the song I mentioned for only a couple of days because she got bored of it but I think what really did it for us was me tapping away my anxieties about accidents in places where there aren't any toilet facilities. I couldnt bring myself to take the plunge and go out without a nappy before and now I just think, well it's no big deal if she wets herself as long as I take some extra chnages of clothes out with me. There have been accidents, but not half as many as I imagined! and it really is no big deal!!

    Have you got started yet?

Let us know how you get on

    X Katie

    Re: Potty training update

Hi Katie!  No, I haven't started yet.  First thing, the weather here has been very cold so did not want to start until it was a bit warmer.  We did move him out of his crib last week so that was one change we made.  Next it will be the potty training.  Now that the snow is gone and the weather has warmed up, we'll get started next week.  I'm glad to hear you've had much success.  Yes, I will definitely tap on myself!  thanks for your encouragement...I will keep you informed....M
