    Chronic stuffy nose and sniffles

I am not a parent but am extremely close to two kids whose one parent may not be too accepting of this (divorce situation).  This 7 year old has a very stuffed nose and cannot breathe through it.  She sleeps tilted upright.  She may have allergies or sinus issues - don't know.  I've been using EFT on myself recently.  Last night she was very distraught over her stuffy nose.  Getting lots of grief from her sister to stop sniffing.  The other evening she had to leave the playground because her nose was running badly and in need of a blow.  No kleenex and had to run home.

Last evening I was alone with her and I asked her to tap with me - 'Even though I have this stuffy nose, I am a really good kid'.... Then used 'stuffy nose'.  She is very shy and so I tapped on her and spoke for her most of the time.  For one or two rounds she actually followed and tapped.  More statements were 'Even though I have the sniffles and stuffy nose, I am a good kid'  'Even though I hate this stuffy nose (got some emotion from her on that one and some tapping) I am a good kid'  'ET I still have this stuffy nose....'

We did about 5 rounds and she did not notice a difference.  She said she did not want to do another one.  I was also doing the gamut in between - on her.  I tired a remote surrogate session today which I am used to doing for my other heaing work (that has a muscle testing set of permissions built in)

I hesitate to ask for permission from the parents because they are doubters and may affect her (7 yr old's) outlook.  Can I do any more?  What areas should I explore?  As I wrote this 'I can't breathe through my nose' came to me.  In my surrogacy, I am tapping her in consciousness or on a picture or should I be tapping myself?

Thanks so much.  This is really affecting her.

    Hello Patty,

I can't help but put on my Nurse's cap for this one, at least initially.  This child appears to have some chronic sinus issues that need to be addressed either by allopathic or naturopathic means.  Can you encourage Mom to do so?

As for tapping, going directly for the physical symptoms can be helpful in the short term.  For the long term, I am sure with divorcing parents, this child is most distressed.  If you do not want to interfere with the Mother's beliefs or non beliefs, perhaps, you can show this little girl a short cut that emphasizes the positive feelings.

For example, have her think of a time or event that made her feel very happy and have her bring up those feelings as vividly as possible.  Then do a round of tapping for the good or happy feelings.

Karate Chop X 3..."Everytime I think about ...(the happy specific event)...I get this happy feeling inside that makes me feel good/happy/better."

     EB...This happy time"

SE..."Just thinking about it makes me feel good/happy/better"

    UE..."I like this feeling"

UN..." I choose this feeling over feeling ________"

CH..."I am in charge of my feelings"

CB..."I can feel this way anytime I want"

UA..,"I laugh and smile at the thought of..."

CR (Crown of Head)..."I can tap myself happy any time I choose"

After she has sufficiently anchored those good feelings, tell her she can bring them back simply by tapping her favorite (or most discrete) point. You might suggest the Under Arm as I have found that the "Tickle Spot" always evokes a chuckle.

You can continue your surrogate tappingfor what you believe are her most distressing issues.  Simply tap yourself as if you are the child.  Begin with statement, "I am tapping for Child's Name with the intention of helping her feel..."  Be persistent.

    You are a good friend.

    Happy Tapping!

Re: Chronic stuffy nose and sniffles

    Hi Nurse Crilly :)
Thank you so much.  I really appreciate your suggestions and the words to use.
She had a doc appt last Thursday and has an ENT appt for the future.  She was given a steroid spray and  Claritin.
I have suggested allergies and per dad, the doctor said the tests are usually inconclusive and tedious.  And dad said that the ENT would determine whether to go down that road.
I have a healing practice of my own and would love for her to see a naturopath.  My fear is that an ENT will not look at the whole picture and will start yanking adenoids (which Dad said they were looking at).
I know I should just let them be but it pains me to see the most invasive measures tried first.  This child also has Juevenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.  I explained that if it is allergies, they will be  affecting her whole system, not just her sinuses.
I am dismayed that the medical folks would give her more steroids and not look for the cause; at least allergies.  We also know they can very well be emotional (suffocating, can't breathe in life, taking on the parents fight and harming herself, feeling herself to be the cause of their stuff and internalizing and attacking herself as in any autoimmune - she was very young and pretalking when they were fighting) I can't really go to those places with her though, due to needing permission from both parents.  Mom never responded to my offer many months ago.  Dad would allow it.

I must tread softly and let things unfold as they will, but maybe with a little help :)  EFT seems the easiest and most fun for kids.
Thanks again, that was very helpful.
