    Test anxiety

    Hi There

I have been using EFT for around 1 year and really want to take it into the school arena.  I realise exams have already started but know that it is an invaluable tool in dealing with stress connected to exam performance.

Today I've been in to see the HeadTeacher of my son's nursery (who is also part of a group for secondary education.)  She is very interested and is giving me a personal introduction to the concerned Head!  I'm very excited about the possibilities... which are endless as parents will be involved and they can bring EFT into the home and their own areas of concern.

Are there any particular areas of attention that I can bring to this meeting? Perhaps a teacher's experience with how it has helped and what is essential in getting the student into a mood where they are calm enough to recall the info necessary, and confident enough that they can excel.

    Thanks so much

    Marina

    Hi Marina,

How wonderful that you have created the opportunity to take EFT into the school!

I would certainly stress the value of EFT in relieving test anxiety. It is ideal if EFT can be introduced early in the year to work on students' apprehensions about the subject matter. Some students already believe that reading or math is "too hard" and, therefore, feel they have no chance for mastery. I like to work with those students early, identifying why they think it is too hard and tap on those issues to clear them. This allows the students more freedom to learn the subject matter with confidence. Then I go back into the classrooms the weeks before we do our mandated state testing to tap on test anxiety, stress, and nervousness. I explain to the students that when they are calm and relaxed it is much easier for their brains to function as wonderfully as they are designed to do. I teach the students how to tap for themselves and encourage them to take breaks during the test to tap if they feel they are getting tired or stressed. Many of my teachers have learned to tap, which is great for them to relieve their own stress, as well as to tap with their students before introducing a new concept or to relieve stress or fear.

Hope this helps somewhat! I wish you well!

    Hugs and Blessings,

    Hi Marina

For a teacher's experience with using EFT in the classroom you can check out this excellent interview on Blog talk radio. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/EFTclass/2009/05/13/EFT-for-Schools

Host Eleanore Duyndam interviewed Paul Widdershoven, founder of School Made Much Easier, and his daughters, Erin Ness and Marlise Widdershoven, who are first year elementary teachers using EFT with their students.

Erin Ness and Marlise Widdershoven share how tapping helped them through their studies to become teachers and how, when and where they now use tapping in their classrooms.

Hope you find it helpful and all the best!

    Cheers

Hi Marina, You have very rightly mentioned that its the concerned teacher's experience and attitude which would count the most.Is that teacher well versed with tapping and if not it is willing to adapt and help the students or atleast allow the kids to tap them selves while giving the test. Syandra very correctly mentioned that it is very important to have a relaxed and attentive mind. For that tapping before and in middle of the test would be extemely beneficial. I also went through the resources mentioned by angie, they are extremely helpful.you can use those resources while putting your point across to the concerned head. Best Regards, Jo
