3 year old with fear of food

Hi, I just found out a few days ago about EFT and I as soon as I applyed it to myself I  got instant relieve for a cold feet problem that is known as "incurable" and that I had for years!!!

Now I am woking on my 3 year old son that has a mild autism problem, but what seems to be the biggest issue is food intake.

The only foods he is not afraid to try is chicken nuggets and french fries. Nothing else!!

He is good at snaks, and will eat an apple or some grapes but that's it. He will leave the room and gets so sensitive when talking or suggesting other kinds of food; like hotdog, chicken, bread.

becasue I am new at all at this does any of you know how long it might take to kids to overcome a problem like this, how does the surrogate really work? Do I have to say  his name and then imagine his fear of food while taping on the points? Ho wmany times a day can I do it? Is there a good number?

Thanks so much for listening .. .

    Hello Rose,

I am not sure that what you are describing is necessarily a "fear" of food. He does appear to have some aversion to trying new things.  I might venture to say that this is within the normal range of developmental behavior for a child his age.  Is he generally healthy and within acceptable weight an height parameters?

Unless it is causing serious health concerns (talk to his Pediatrician), let it play out for a while.  It is normal for kids to be reluctant to try new foods or give up foods they previously enjoyed and only consume a limited variety of foods.

Definitely introduce him to tapping.  You can show him on yourself and on him if he allows.  Start with less serious things likw being upset or frustrated.  Use language that he understands.  It is your intent that is more important than the words.

Remember that want you want for him may not be what he wants -- just like all 3 year-olds who are discovering the power of their ownself.

    Happy Tapping!

Re: 3 year old with fear of food

Hi Rose. I too have been working with a 3 year old with an eating problem. His mum did tell me that he had been violently sick when he was just 9 months old, and he progressivley got worse. Now he is 3 he will only eat one or two particular foods.

I tapped on him and showed his mum how to do it too. (I actually tapped on her while I was there because she became very emotional while we were discussing this problem.) I suggested that she tap on herself as she is feeling anxious, and I thought that her son might be picking this up from her somehow.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, his mum phoned me (after 5 weeks of me initially seeing him) and said that her son, after being really naughty, lay down in bed and began tapping his karate chop point and said, "Even though I need to eat other food..." Apparently there had been no mention of eft or tapping for weeks, but his mum had noticed that he had begun to tolerate food being next to him on the table. (He would have normally thrown it across the room!) She had also noticed that he had become more loving.

He wanted me to go back to see him, which I did recently. As of yet, I haven't heard any more. But something seems to be working! It seems to be baby steps at the moment, but that is better than nothing.

I would definitely suggest you tap on yourself for your son. I would use, "My name is _____, and even though I don't want to eat, I'm still a fantastic kid."  I would also suggest that you tap on yourself, using the affirmation, "Even though I am worried about _____, I deeply and completely accept myself." etc...

I hope this helps a little. I'm still quite new to eft myself, but I have had some amazing success with it. Keep tapping!!

    Hi,

Thank you for your fast reply and advice.

I should have mentioned that this sensitivity starting about 12 months of age and has not change since then, but he is healthy otherwise. He gets his daily vitamins plus he drinks milk.

I am very confident that EFT will bring results, but it does seem like a fear of his, as he gets so upset about it. I did notice that in the last few days instead of a fearful NO it seems to be more of a normal NO.  I would say that EFT already started to make a difference and will get there with time.

    Thanks!!!
