Tap several times per day. You might consider surrogate tapping at times when he does not want to do it and using some of these phrases:

Even though...It is scary/I'm afraid/there's monsters or ghosts in here/someone wants to hurt us/I'm frustrated/I'm not safe/I'm afraid something will hurt me, Mom, Dad, sibling, pet, my stuff, etc./I have to protect everyone/I'm the only one who knows so I have to take care of everyone else/I'm anxious/I saw something scary on TV/I don't understand it/it doesn't make sense/it's too scary to be alone/it's all up to me...

Then, tap on anything new that should come up. Let us know how this works.

Fear of monsters and ghosts

Hi,
My 5.5 year old son has Sensory Processing Disorder and has increased anxiety about many things. However, his fear of monsters and ghosts in the house is escalating and he now won't go to the bathroom without me standing outside the door. I can't be in any other room in the house without him standing right next to me. How do I relieve his fears and help him to be comfortable in his own home? I tried tapping on him while he talked about his fears, but, his imagination runs away with him and he went from talking about monsters/ghosts to intruders coming into our home and how he wants to protect himself. He didn't get any relief from my tapping.
Thanks,
Charlene
