I was just asked by a local Performing Arts center to do a workshop for parents and their children. I'm going to entitle it "Empowering your child". I can easily work with individuals on issues, but was hoping to do tapping for everyone.

Can anyone suggest a format or some ideas for simple tapping exercises or approaches that I can do with everyone? The children will vary in age from 5-12 probably.

Thanks.
Ed

Wondering if anyone out there has taken a empirical approach to working with children and teenagers? I work with children, teenagers and families as a psychologist, and I am interested in establishing an argument that is founded on empirical data to use in schools and youth organisations.

I am thinking that there would be a much better opportunity for schools, community organisations, and government agencies to consider the use of Energy Psychology and especially EFT if they had hard data from working with children and young people.

He dropped a large piece of metal on his foot. Looks like he is going to lose his big toenail and doesnt have any pain associated with it. Is telling the doctor "its not that bad". Toe is black. He went to school today and his teacher accidentally stepped on the effected foot resulting in some blood spurting. Again, this 7 year old now tells the teacher, "dont worry about it, its not that bad" and has no facial signs that he is in any pain whatsoever. Grandparents are raising this child (and his brother who was even more traumatized). We are now just noticing this lack of pain as child has not been injured since being reunited with grandparents. Obviously this child has learned to separate from pain starting from his late infancy to when he was 'saved' from his mother at age 2.

Any suggestions on where to start? He knows how to use EFT and I incorporate this in treatment. This child is also acting out in school and is in an alternative school already due to violence towards others. He does not appear to understand how his actions can cause others pain, nor does he feel pain himself.

Appreciate any feedback.

with embroynal rabdomayo scarmo of nasphyrinx, a type of cancer. That time he was
treated with chemo & rediation thraphy. Now he is completely cured and
healthy.

From last one year we have observed that his growth (physical) is
not in line with his age. Doctor says his pitutary gland may be affected due to radiation and hence is not secreating growth hormones. Kindly
educate us how EFT can be of help to him. Also, radiation exposed parts like
nose, gums, teeth roots and jaw are not growing properly. The new teeth which are errupting do not have roots.

Please help.

Thanks & Regards,

Umesh Deshmukh

Selective Mutism

Hi,

Has anyone tried working with the rather subborn difficulty of selective mutism (seective talker really) Its often linked to Autism, but not always and has many origins. Most of my work is initially passed onto Speech and Language Therapist who take a long time but have a lot of success in the under 8 year group, but once the kids are in senior school there is little that can be offered. We seem to have come to a grinding halt in the UK, well stafforshire for kids over about 10 or 11 years.

I guess it would have to be a story tapping or maybe with me speaking the step-up and the first full menu and then they young girl I'm thinking of going home and doing at with her parents.?

Any ideas please

my granddaughter, 4years and 2 months old, has started stuttering about a year ago and it is getting worse. Actually I think she never got to speaking fluently (like her older sister, nearly seven years old). She is a lovely and very loveable kid. Especially empathic for her age, shows much love and is a pleasure to be with. She is aware of her stuttering - recently said to me: "you know grandma - I stutter". I have tried surrogate EFT to no avail. She is going to have a new brother born in September. She asked me twice who I loved more - her or her sister. As to her coming brother she expressed pleasure at not being the smallest in the family any more. I worry about the kids in the kinder garden laughing at her and woud like very much to help her. Please feel free to suggest anything, including for me to tap on my worry! I love her so much! Thanks for advance for any suggestion.

By the way, I am an EFT practitioner myself, a social worker, having great results with EFT, yet never so far succeeded with surrogate tapping.

Her results are simply astounding and needed to be brought to the health care community. I invite anyone who has worked with children in an official or unofficial capacity as part of a health care, educational or other setting to share your experiences. Otherwise the sessions will be more struggle . He is absolutely right- how I usulally start with these kind of kids is to find out, what makes them deconcentrated so easily. I use NLP for that part. Then after I can start working with them. Even this is not always so easy.

Recently I got a girl 10 years old who has all the sympthoms of ADHD + can not read and write hardly at all. The doctors said she was menthaly slightly disabled.

My question is: Had anyone such a child? How she/he dealt with her/him? We get along well each other, but she is ok for tapping only for 5-sec-30 sec. Than she can not pay attention at all. When she is at the session we play, we have fun, but sometimes she gets bored very easily. How can help to teach her to concentrate, when she is not able to answer for my qouestions?

I am aware that is a long run. I keep tapping...

I am couriously waiting for your ideas. (My message may not be a proper English- sorry- I am a Hungarian EFT Practitioner:)

A colleague asked me about her 5 year-old nephew who began awakening 5 out of 7 nights with night terrors. He screams for 15 minutes and finally settles down. I have little background info other than it started a year ago with the only, apparent, change being that he now sleeps in bunk beds and prefers the top bunk. Any suggestions? I will not be working with this child, however, I would like to pass along a variety of ideas.

6 month year old sleeping issues

HI there! I've been working with a girl and her 6 month old baby on his sleeping issues. Up until he was 3.5 months old, he was an excellent sleeper. Then he had a bout with gallstones and they removed his gallbladder. About 2-3 weeks after that, he started having some major issues with sleep. They need to rock him to sleep and once he's good and out (about an hour of rocking), they lay him in his crib. He continues to wake through the night about every half hour to an hour. Once they pick him up and rock him he settles back in. The first night I tapped on him, he slept for 5 hours..but the last two nights have been not very good. Rocking him didn't help at all last night, he was up for 2 hours in the night. The mom is exhausted as is the dad so their stress levels are very high. I did some tapping on mom before we tapped on the baby and we cleared alot of stuff for her. We have more to tap on, surrounding her emotions about his surgery. She remembers thinking, as they took the baby away for surgery, that she may never get to hold her baby again. Then when he woke up, she said she just wanted to hold him forever. We did not tap on that yet as we just talked about that on my way out the door the first night after 11. I am going back over tonight to work on some more stuff, but I am wondering if anyone has any success with this kind of issue. I know the mom has continued to tap on him since I left and I've done some surrogate here from home....but we're just not successful yet...any suggestions would be most helpful!!

On a good note, another reason I went over is that they suspected a hernia. He had a lump in his groin and testicle. I did some tapping on that and now the mom can't find it. They have an appt with the doctor this afternoon to go over the results of the ultrasound, but the parents can't find the lump now. good stuff.....M

9 yr. old Recovering from Abuse and Neglect

Hi All

I am writing this to give anyone who needs it hope that we can help children heal from the worst. This kind of therapy used to take years, now it takes months. We are just beginning.

This is our third session.

J. is nine years old and has been with his adoptive parents for two years. He was abused in all ways, and abandoned and neglected by his addicted birth parents. His adoptive parents are devoted to his healing-- "helping him be normal" is their greatest wish.

Although he acts out and is angry at home and at school, in the playroom where I do eft with kids his play is subdued and exhibits the underlying grief. When i sense that then we tap together regarding the grief.

The other day his adoptive mother joined us as he tapped, and he collapsed into an infant place-- the age when his birth mother left. His adoptive mother held him and i guided her to tap for him. He cried, she tapped, I breathed and prayed.

He sat up, he cried again. He said, "I remember being four and R., my Dad's girlfriend, telling me that she was not my real Mom." Adoptive Mom tapped, and I held the sacred space.

Toward the end of the session his energy and demeanor was still fragile. I said can you make a force field around you for you to feel safe. he closed his eyes and said he was making three forcefields.

He was less angry the next week. We are continuing to work with the little ones within the forcefields.

Feedback?

We at EFT4 Kids prefer that you get the help of an EFT mental health professional to do regression work.

The kids are there for various reasons. One mayor problem is that some of them are addicted to cigarettes which gets them into trouble.

I have done some tapping with them but I find that their cravings go up instead of going down when they tap on their urge to smoke.

Now I would be very grateful for any ideas and suggestions on how to treat this problem effectively.

Thank´s a lot and much love from Germany

Martina

EFT with adolescents: any short cuts?

I work as a counsellor in a school for adolescents. I have recently discovered EFT and find it really helpful. I have now started using here with the students. I find that many are responsive when I work with them. However, the more troubled, disorganised students find it really hard to use the full protocol and seem to give up using it. Hence I am trying to find some short cuts so that I can give them a couple of points to tap, depending on their issues.

Two main issues are anger management and ADHD. Anyone any ideas for keypoints to tap for these issues? Or other ideas of how to get adolescents to continue to use EFT?

Thanks
